The Buntline Special

Yesterday I was at my local Barnes and Noble when my husband spotted this sign:
As I was browsing over the various covers, a special one caught my eye. . . .
Tiny hats are even in literature!  We are that much closer to World Conquest!  Ha ha ha!  But seriously, I was rather amused when I saw this, so I figured I would share.  Has anyone else found a tiny hat in an unusual place?

Tiny Fun Time

A hat from Freyja Handmade.

Krista runs Freyja Handmade on Etsy.  It is a neat shop.  I like how the tiny hats are simple, because not everyone wants their hat super accessorized.  She summed it up best with, "My sister and I come from a long line of crafty family members so we've put that to good use.  :)"  Yes, you did.

Tiny Hats Gone Wild

There is a new show on SyFy called Face Off, which premiered last night.  The whole concept of the show is special fx make-up artist competing against each other.  Well, last night's competition was human/animal hybrids and guess what one of them was wearing?

From left to right- Beetle, Ostrich, Ostrich, Beetle, Elephant
One of the Ostrich ladies was sporting her own tiny hat.  It was my very own Tiny Hat Safari. :-)

Do You Have the Right Hattitude?

What makes a shop like Hattitude neat is in the details.  The shop focuses on Punk (Steam, Cyber, Diesel) and Neo-Victorian persuasions with names of the merchandise that really reflect it.  Each hat is given a very creative name which is then explained under the description.  My favorite part is that the tiny hats have 3 different sections- Small, Mini, and Itsy Bitsy.  I highly encourage you to check out Hattitude if you like what you see below.  These are my favorites from the collection.

Show Me the Money

Today's moment of WTF is an example of how ANYTHING can be turned into a "sexy" Halloween costume.  I am not saying I think this is a good costume.  In fact, I think this is one of the lamest "sexy costumes" I have seen.

Sassy Monopoly Adult Women's Costume
I don't understand the tiny hat with this costume, but it is one of the cuter aspects.  To me, it looks like a maid costume and a circus ringmaster costume had a baby with Monopoly birth defects. The costume description from the site I found it states:
"Pretend to be a provocative casino dealer!
This Sassy Monopoly Adult Women's Costume has the look of a sexy casino dealer with the short mini dress, tiny hat and spats. This Monopoly women's costume is made of polyester and spandex and comes with the dress, hat, collar, spats and petticoat. The fishnet stockings and play money is not included. Our Sassy Monopoly Adult Women's Costume is perfect for your next Halloween or costume party.
"
1) What does a Casino Dealer have to do with the board game Monopoly?
2) The only thing that makes this "sassy" is the spats (included) and the stockings (not included).
3) It does NOT come with the Monopoly money.

I would love to hear your thoughts on this costume.  What is the silliest costume topped with a tiny hat you have seen?

An American Idol

Steven Tyler in New Orleans
One of the new American Idol judges, Steven Tyler, wore a tiny hat on episode 2 of season 10.  It was the New Orleans auditions, which makes a little more sense out of his choice for accessory.  I just wish he'd wore the hat the entire time.  What do you think?

He Never Forgets His Tiny Hat

"Elephant Mask"

This is proof that tiny hats are for everyone, even creepy elephants with monocles.  Happy Friday!

The Pur-fect Tiny Hats

The mastermind of Kitty Kustoms wearing one of her creations.
Pop quiz.  What do you get when you combine sugar and spice with bright colors, Hello Kitty, and a bit of punk pirate?  The answer is Kitty Kustoms.  I was blown away when I saw this shop.  The hats are in such vibrant colors, as the wigs on the models.  The best way to describe it is a tiny hat candy shop.
One of the Valentine's Day selections.

I also enjoy the small variety.  There are bold, bright blues and pinks for Hello Kitty and "punk" hats, while softer colors for spring time hats.  (Seen above.)  There is even a selection of Valentine's Day tiny hats, as seen on the right.  Scroll down to see more pictures of tiny hats from Kitty Kustoms.  Just a tip, the last picture takes the cake.

The most EPIC photo montage ever.  A cute doggie modeling tiny hats!

More Than Just Soap

Sudzy Soap, just as it sounds, is an Etsy shop that sells soap.  But that doesn't mean they can't sell tiny hats as well.  I have had my eye on this shop for a while now.  The selection is usually small, but I contribute that to the fact that it is more of a skin care store.  That doesn't change the fact that some very nice hats are found there.

Tiny Hats for Education

Today's submission comes from Lauren who made this costume as part of her college senior thesis project, Ew Gross.  Just goes to show you how important a tiny hat can be.  Good job Lauren!

Tiny Hats at the Mall

We all know the Tiny Hat Trend is nothing new.  In fact, tiny hats have been invading the mainstream (like malls) for at least a couple of years now.

The famous pic from Urban Outfitters

These are from Wet Seal.  Doesn't the one on the right look familiar?

And because I think tiny hats are best when giving someone a laugh:

You can find this treasure here.

I Want to Play Dress Up!

Pirate fairy or tiefling with wings?

Looking fabulous.

"Of course I am smiling!  I am wearing a tiny hat, after all!"

The beautiful thing about a tiny hat is how versatile the trend really is.  We have stated on here many times that tiny hats are great for costumes/cosplay as well as formal functions.  The pictures above feature hats from First Sight Creations.  Their tagline reads, "crafts to fall in love with," and if you love tiny hats you will.  They have many, many themes to their hats such as steampunk, fantasy, floral, and even tiny witch hats.  I think we all know by now how important I think it is not to settle with a tiny witch hat.  I love how truly happy she looks in the pictures.  If you are going to model a tiny hat, you need to look happy.  How could anyone NOT be happy wearing a tiny hat?

Some samples from First Sight Creations.
These have to be some of the better tiny witch hats I have seen so far.

The Cape

Izabella Miko as Raia in The Cape.

If you like comic book super heroes, carnivals, and drama then you probably tuned into NBC's new show The Cape.  I, loving all three, tuned into the show and was rather pleased to see one of the characters donning a tiny hat.  :-)  I was especially happy to see Raia wearing two different tiny hats in one episode.  Kudos to whoever was in charge of wardrobe on furthering the trend.  Hopefully there is more to come.

Variety is the Spice of Life

We all know tiny hats are big in those who love vintage Victorian style, which would probably explain why the Gothic Lolita girls love them so.  The burlesque scene has even embraced the fashion over the past few years.  Now brides seem to be stepping into the  trend.  The nice thing about Two Back Flats is they have a hat for every tiny hat lover and beautiful photography to show them off.

Because I Just HAD to Share

So, I am surfing through Google the other and I come across something very I just had to share. . .

Look familiar?  It is the same model from this post.  I love how she is in the same pink hoodie with the same scared smile on her face, but shot from a different angle.  I am really tempted to buy it from Costume Discounters because it is under $3.
